More commonly known as a corn kernel, the zea seed has been cultivated by humanity for centuries. This plant is often used in cooking as a starch, and the common domesticated variety found in supermarkets adds a sweet flavor to dishes. The pointed end is where it had attached to the central cob, while the rounded end is where it butted up against the husk.
